Martinique Hurricane Relief Flight

4 June 2014 224 Flight Unit Antonov 124-100 (registration number RA-82030) landed at French Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport.

The resent equivalence of a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane scale with winds of 80 mph (142 km/h) struck the island of Martinique and caused massive damage, specifically left the major part of the Island without electricity due to the frequent lightning occurred. Major French Energy Corporation EDF immediately launched a relief operation. RA-82030 delivered urgent EDF cargo from Vatry (FR) to support the recovery operation. This 224 FU short notice response with 91 tons of generators and electric power equipment on board has become mostly possible due to the FU general dedication to the French clients, EDF resources and Indian Flywell organizational skills.
